#Macworld Living Large with Leo Laporte, Adam Savage, Roger McGuinn
Cooler than Comic-Con? Maybe. Macworld has been on a roll, surprising and delighting fans, and twending in geekland. Today Leo Laporte hosted a rockem sockem live onstage TWiT with Adam Savage, Mythbusters, Heather Gold, Roger McGuinn of The Byrds, and Warp 11, Star Trek cover band. Not expecting the lineup, the audience went wild. In this part of the world and to a certain demo that loves to blow things up, Adam Savage is a G-D. Luckily, Justin.TV got it all on video here.
Tomorrow, Macworld opens with electrifying film composer and Stutter Edit creator BT who blew the roof off iPhoneDevCamp this summer at Yahoo. Then pundits take the stage to pontificate on iPad: overpriced for a gadget that’s duplicative or revolutionary for making media consumable by touch. Om Malik says the potential for iPad is limited only by the imagination. Others say it’s limited by ATT’s inability to package minutes in a bundle for families to use on any device. The only thing we know for sure is that to chart you’re going to need to be first out the door. So tomorrow it will be interesting to hear what the iPad will become: Drawing tablet. Medical records reader. Remote interactive educational device. On-the-go app development tool. Exciting way to buy in-show merchandise, to play games, to experience music, to bring digicomics alive. Fill in the blanks, here’s the SDK: http://www.apple.com/ipad/sdk/
The floor closes at 6pm leaving time for everyone to check out all the neat toys on the floor. If you can’t be there live, you can follow at #macworld, #mw2010. Enjoy!
